UF Digital Collections (UFDC) • 1994: Digitization at UF begins, Mellon Grant for Caribbean newspapers • 2006: UF Digital Collections & SobekCM begin • 2010: Over 100 collections, over 4.5 million pages** books , manuscripts, archival materials, photographs, newspapers, herbarium specimens, audio, video, text, PDF (1 file in all formats available - JPG, JPG thumb, JPG2, TXT, PRO, TIFF - is counted as 1 page, not 6)

Priorities:UF Libraries & Partners • Programs: • Digital Library of the Caribbean, with the Caribbean Newspaper Digital Library • Florida Digital Newspaper Library • Special & Area Studies Collections (Baldwin Library of Historical Children’s Literature; Florida History; Africana) and UF partner collections • Institutional Repository @ UF Current grant projects: Caribbean newspapers (TICFIA); Historical Everglades (NHPRC); Aerial Photographs (LSTA); Flagler Architectural Drawings (NPS); Title VI Centers; Libraries’ mini-grants

  4. UFDC Needs • Maximum up-time, maximum functionality, Open Access • Shared infrastructure and tools • Customizable interfaces, branding, wordmarks (institutional attribution/representation, and moral rights)

  5. Tools & Services • Digitization Toolkit (dLOC/DLC Toolkit) and dLOC Manual • METS Editor • SobekCM • Loader, builder, indexing, static page & feed creation • Statistics: collection size and usage • Self-submittal tool (myUFDC and myDLOC)

  6. UFDC Future • Identities/EAC • Enriching materials • Basic institutional need • Toolkit functionality all also within SobekCM online (offline Toolkit must remain for partners) • Catalogs: • Haitian Libraries • Harn Museum of Art
