The Basics of structu The Basics of structural rolling: Need to Know about structural rolling Need to Know about structural rolling ral rolling: What You What You Rolling is the most commonly used method of forming/shaping metals, yielding higher production, higher productivity, and closer control of the last product than other forming processes. This is important in producing aluminum and copper used in construction and other industries. Aluminum is lightweight and can bend easily to any difficult shape; copper material also has a greater ability to draw wire and sheet using structural shape rolling. Ideally, rolling is a metal forming step in which metal stock is made to pass through one or more pairs of rolls to lessen the thickness and to make it uniform. The concept is the same as rolling the dough. Rolling is done according to the temperature of the metal rolled. If the temperature of the metal is more than its recrystallization temperature, then the procedure is called as hot rolling. If the temperature of the metal is below its recrystallization, it is known as cold rolling. The objective of the project is to show the importance of structural shape rolling in the current metal- forming process. It should be done without any loss of material. Structural shape rolling is a metal- forming procedure in which a metal element is passed through a pair of rolls. There are two different types of rolling process - flat and profile rolling. In flat rolling, the last shape of the component is either classed as a sheet, also called “strip” (thickness less than 3 mm), or plate (thickness more than 3 mm). In profile rolling, the last product is either a round rod or other cross-section-shaped elements such as structural sections (beam, channel, joist, rails, etc.). Applications of structural shape rolling: • • • • • • • construction materials, partition beam ceiling panel Roofing panels. steel pipe automotive parts household appliances
• • • metal furniture, door and window frames other metal products Advantages of structural shape rolling: • It is a cost-effective method of bending any metal material as the procedure requires less set- up time and is used before hand-made dies that are transformed according to the dimension and shape of the workpiece. In this process, there is no wastage of material. Some complex shapes can also be easily done. • • If you are looking for a structural rolling, your search ends with Browning Enterprise. The company has a team of roll experts and sales members who are well-equipped to deal with any steel plate rolling project.
