What is the Canadian government doing about Climate Change? • On November 27th/ 2012, Canada’s Environment Minister the Honourable Peter Kent, “announced proposed regulations to improve fuel efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emission of light truck and cars from 2017- 2025” (News Release, 2012) • Kent went on to conclude “that it will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50%” and “this will allow fuel savings of $900 per/year/car” (News Release, 2012)
What will this mean for the average Canadian? • The average Canadian will be saving money because our cars and light trucks are more efficient (less fuel to drive greater distances) • The new regulations will also result in a significant reduction in the amount of GHG released into our atmosphere
