  2. Connect To Your Life • Have you ever taken karate lesson? Not yet. • Have you watched someone practice karate or seen it on TV? Yes, I have watched it • What do you think is the purpose of karate? I think the purpose is to fight.

  3. Key to the poem • In a poem, the speaker is the voice that talks to you. In this poem, who does the speaker claim to be? A boy or girl that take karate lesson.

  4. Not to bully, Not to fight, Dragon left And leopard right. Wind and wave, Tree and flower, Chop. Kick. Peace. Power. i am wind, I am wall, I am wave, I rise, I fall. I am crane In lofty flight, Training that I need not fight. I am tiger, I am tree, I am flower, I am knee, I am elbow, I am hands Taught to do The heart’s commands.

Not to fight, not to bully • What feelings or ideas do you have about karate after reading this poem? This poem is teach that karate is not to fight not to bully and also for not to hurt each other.
