  1. In 2008-2009 College in Colorado had a goal of reaching more of Colorado’s Hispanic families to generate interest in getting more youth into college. We put together a year-long effort that included TV and Radio commercials, grassroots events such as Ferias de Educación, Fiestas Patrias, Xportiva, Qwest’s Niños Seguros and an on-air promotion called Periodistas del Mañana to reach Colorado’s Hispanic families. College in Colorado gave away $1,000 scholarships to the finalists in the Periodistas del Mañana program as well as to four High School students who were selected for the College In Colorado Xportiva scholarships. This year-long project was very rewarding for me, and as the KCEC TV project manager it involved managing internal efforts on behalf of College In Colorado, including scheduling commercial shoots at DPS schools, writing copy, arranging translation, setting up announcers for college fairs, selecting scholarship finalists, organizing College In Colorado’s participation in our events, budgeting and planning.
