  8. BHS Graduation Requirements • 4 Years of English • 4 Years of Math • 3 Years of Science • 3 Years of Social Studies • 1 Year of Physical Education • .5 Credit of Comprehensive Health • 1 Year of Fine Art or CTE • 5.5 Elective credits 22 credits required for graduation

  9. Your GPA – Figure It Out Step 1 – Assign a number to your letter grade A = 4 D = 1 (Ouch!) B = 3 F = 0 (Big Ouch!) C = 2 Step 2 – Add up the “Grade Points” Step 3 – Divide “Total Grade Points” by the number of classes taken. Your GPA is the number you get after you divide “Grade Points” by the number of classes you have taken.

University Entrance Requirements 16 Core Courses • 4 credits of English • 4 credits of math or through 4th year – one beyond Algebra II • 3 credits of lab science (Ag Science 1 and 2 together equates to 1 lab science credit or 1 elective credit. Honors Science Research is not a lab science) • 2 credits of social studies • 1 credit of Fine Art or CTE (Career Technical Education) • 2 years of foreign language ( same language) (16 core gpa will be unweighted)

  12. Class Rank • The student transcript may report both the weighted and unweighted cumulative grade point average. Class rank is based on the weighted cumulative grade point average. The total number of grade points earned in all courses taken is divided by the number of credits attempted. • WHY SHOULD YOU TRY FOR A HIGH CLASS RANK AND GOOD GPA???? * SCHOLARSHIPS $$$$$$$$ * ADMISSION TO COLLEGE

  13. Graduation Honors • Cum Laude—meaning “with praise”. To qualify a student must achieve a 3.75-4.24 grade point average. • Magna Cum Laude—meaning “with great praise”. To qualify a student must achieve a 4.25-4.49 grade point average. • Summa Cum Laude—”with the highest praise”. To qualify a student must achieve a 4.5-5.0 grade point average.

  15. 4 Year Plan • Login to your Infinite Campus Account • Click on “Academic Planner” on the left • Click on Next • We will work together to add classes for your sophomore, junior and senior years

  19. Social Studies Courses Sophomore year – AP Human Geography as an elective • Junior year • American/AZ History • AP American/AZ History ***Be sure to select both semesters 1 and 2 • Senior Year • Government or AP Government • Economics or AP Macroeconomics

  20. Electives or Other Required Classes • Choose electives for each year so that credits add up to 6 • Don’t forget to select both semesters for year-long electives • Have you taken PE??? Health??? **If you are doing a summer school class or an online class- place in year you plan to take the class.** • Once you have 22 credits entered, SAVE your work.

  21. IMPACT CHANDLER SCHOLARS • Community service based program • Requires a student’s formal commitment in their Freshman year. Students commit to: • maintaining a 3.4 or greater GPA, • cumulative attendance at 95% or greater, • submit 35 hours of community service before the first day of their junior year • perform at least 100 hours of community service before April 1st of their senior year • All information and submission of documents will be conducted online at https://www.chandleredfoundation.org/what-we-do/invest-in-students/impact-program.html

  22. IMPACT SCHOLARS CHANDLER • All freshmen will receive an invitation to participate via Infinite Campus through their student email the first week of August. You can participate all year long through your Freshman year. • Parents will receive a notification once the student opts in or out of the program. • Once you opt in, then you receive a confirmation email, enter hours under the ICS tab in infinite campus under ICS enrollment date. Then your enrollment begins. • Once hours are submitted, the system sends the supervisor an email for verification, the parent, and the student.

  25. SIGNS YOUR FRIEND MIGHT BE STRUGGLING More irritable than usual. Gotten more negative about life. Mind seems to be somewhere else. They are so anxious they can’t relax. Don’t feel like hanging out. They are harming themselves. Taking more drugs or drinking more. Talk about feeling hopeless. Taking more risks.

What’s up?” • “I know you’re going through some stuff; I’m here for you.” • “I’m worried about you and would like to know what’s up so I can help.” “Whenever you’re ready to talk, I’m ready to listen.”
