Education • There is no formal training required to become a chef, however, before you can become a chef you usually have to have several years of being a cook before becoming a chef. • It is recommended that you take courses, at either a 2 year or 4 year college to get into an apprentice program. • Chef’s are usually trained in apprenticeship programs, of which are taken at various culinary institutes, and from there receive a degree in culinary arts and usually receive a job.
