  3. What Would It Take To Get Into This Program? • Professional Cooking Program The first and second semesters are taken in succession; the third semester consists of a 10-week internship involving 8 weeks of industry experience, followed by the fourth and fifth semesters.

  4. What Is The Salary For This Job? • Average income range from about $35,000 to $40,000 a year. • Entry-level chefs may earn little more than minimum wage, while experienced chefs who work full-time can make up to $75,000 a year. • In some cases, earnings can be well over $100,000 a year.

What Have You Learned Through This Process? • Chefs prepare and present the food in restaurants and hotels and other facilities. • They are more highly trained than regular cooks and their jobs don’t only require cooking and presenting the food, they also are in charge of purchasing the supplies and hiring their staff and making sure that things are running smoothly and in order in the kitchen. • There’s the sous-chef, who plans menus, trains new staff, and helps supervise the kitchen. • specialty chefs, who are responsible for a particular area, such as desserts, soups, or salads • Finally, there are the cooks, who do most of the actual cleaning, chopping, and cooking.
