Solar Project • Reason: To combat water borne pathogens • Past • Implemented solar panels • Attempted multiple water purification processes and it has been beneficial to learn what won’t work • Present • Present water purifier is working properly • Solar panel batteries are failing but is being explored • Future • First Step: Find sustainable water purification system • Second: Stabilize battery life • Third: Implement ice production for distribution or refrigeration

Future Actions • Refrigeration: Refrigeration is still a viable possibility and may be used to sustain other ventures including the provision of nutritious meals to the kids of the lake. • Ice Machine: Powering an ice cubing machine is no longer feasible because the demand is for ice blocks instead of ice cubes due to climate and use. However, the barge has enough energy to sustain an ice block maker and a block ice machine is being researched. • Learning Center: There is still a substantial need for training about many things, including electricity and food safety. The development of a training and learning community center is seen in future scenarios.

  15. Ultimate Goal To make a sustainable solar panel venture that—with its powering capabilities—can be used to enrich the lives of the people of Tonle Sap Village

  16. Water Taxi Purpose: Provide transportation for PCL employees, guests, supplies, and students. Boat is fully funded Can hold 20-25 passengers Waiting to Purchase Transportation of ice blocks, towing houses, and potential other purposes for income.

  19. Cambodian Youth Camp 2010 • June 18-21 ,2010 • 475 Cambodian youth attended free of charge thanks to Sponsors • 25 American students volunteered as counselors • Camp attendees participated in a service learning project • Partnership with Lee University’s Leonard Center
