  3. Environmental Limits Zone 1 Zone 1 Zone 2 Circled items – We’ve suggested zone changes

  4. Random Vibe

  5. Factor of Safety ERD table 23

  6. Instrument Design Loads Margin of Safety shall be positive (ERD 4.1.6): Design to worst of either case 1 or 2 and case 3:

  7. Instrument Design Loads

  8. Instrument Design Loads

  9. Instrument Design Loads • Any significant Qs in instrument need to be accounted for • Loads should come down with 1st CLA results, currently expected Nov ’10 -- Mar ’11 • Probably too late for ETU testing (if performed, TBD)

  10. Misc reqm’ts from ERD • Acoustics for STATIC only, due to carbon foils (ERD 3.4.3) • Pressure Profile – we use GSFC rule of thumb of 1in2/ft3 (ERD 3.4.4) • Pending OK by LM • Aerothermal heating 0.1W/cm2 for 10 min duration max (ERD 3.5.3) • Mechanisms tested to 2x # flight cycles (ERD 4.2.5.1) • Natural Freq>100Hz or structural test required (ERD 4.2.5.2) • Self Shock: Instruments with deployables perform self-shock two times, preferably initiated by Orbiter circuits (post integration)(ERD 4.2.5.5.1,2)
