  3. Is he a good father? • Parable of the Incredible Father. • A portrayal of God’s fathering. • Focus was NOT on what happened to the Lost Son... • But on what the Father did!

  4. Is he a good father? • Full of Generosity • V12 Known to his sons as such. • “Wisdom of the Righteous” – knows when to let go. • V22-23 Reflected in forgiveness. • V31 Philosophy of generosity. • Marked by richness, love, overflow.

  5. Is he a good father? • Full of Goodness • V12 no resentment; no favouritism. • V13 tolerant, confident– if you have trained them good early in life. • V20 welcoming, affirming. Quick to forgive, slow to anger. • V23-24 Willing to do what is hard – to forgive and to celebrate. • V28 Reconciler, peacemaker, healer of hearts.

Is he a good father? • Full of Grace • V20 About abundant Compassion not Condemnation – There must be a way to comeback! • V22 Blessing the unworthy, restoring to former state! • V23-24, 32 Celebrating without fear of disappointment. “..dead but alive again, lost but is found” • V30-32 All the loss is charged to him.. Grace justifies, grace explains.
