Jones had the heart attack in his home, and was taken to Martin Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. • The Monkees were a semi-fictional band created for an NBC show. In their earliest days, they weren't even allowed to play their own instruments, but the group wound up being a smash—with No. 1 hits "Daydream Believer," "Last Train to Clarksville" and "I'm a Believer"—and Jones, its lead singer, achieved heartthrob status. He is survived by his third wife, Jessica Pacheco, and four children from previous marriages
