  3. Nominating Committee Report: Officer Candidates President: Frederick Lepore, Neurology, RWJMS Vice President: Catherine Monteleone, Medicine, RWJMS Secretary: Sanford Klein, Anesthesia, RWJMS Treasurer: Michael Matise, Neuroscience and Cell Biology, RWJMS

  5. Nominations from Floor • Full AAUP Members are eligible to Nominate. • Nominee must consent prior to meeting. • Nominee must be Full AAUP Member.

  6. Election Process • Election will be conducted via Survey Monkey for Full Members and via Paper Ballots for others. • Electronic and Paper Ballots will be sent out by September 27 with a return date of October 8. • Results will be communicated by October 15, 2010.

  7. LEGISLATED CHANGES TO HEALTH INSURANCE • 1.5% CONTRIBUTION EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2011. • 1.5% CONTRIBUTION FOR RETIREE BENEFITS FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NOT ATTAINED 25 YEARS OF SERVICE AS OF MAY 21, 2010. • AS OF MAY 21, 2010, NEWHIRE ELIGIBILITY FOR HEALTH INSURANCE IS 35 HOURS OR .875 FTE.

  8. LEGISLATED CHANGES TO PENSION BENEFITS • $141,000 Cap on 8% Contribution. • IMPACT : Hired Prior to July 1, 1996 vs After July 1, 1996.

  9. FY2010 ACCOMPLISHMENTS • Clinical Component Reductions UPC Win • UMDNJ violated NJ Labor Law and ordered to negotiate over all modifications to clinical component (Patient Service & Guaranteed Faculty Practice). • Hire Date vs. Appointment Date Settlement • New Faculty receive AAUP Contract benefits as of Date of Hire. • Retroactive Salary Increases. • Length of Service Adjusted.

FY2010 ACCOMPLISHMENTS • FY2009 Merit Pool Arbitration Settlement: : $178K more in merit increases. • Academic Due Process in Investigatory Procedure UPC Win: • Requires UMDNJ to Negotiate over Investigatory & Disciplinary Procedure • Codification of Investigatory Procedure with Faculty Participation • UMDNJ is negotiating over procedure and rescinds faculty disciplines to settle Unfair Practice Charge. • 3 Discipline Arbitrations Challenging Discipline Settled: University withdraws Charges and pays faculty members damages.

FY2010 ACCOMPLISHMENTS • Clinical Component Reductions Negotiations Result in Reinstatement of Clinical Component and Backpay. • Quarterly Meetings and Dialogue with President Owen and his Cabinet. • UPC Charge Settled: No Individual Negotiations over Terms and Conditions of Employment ( i.e. Waiver of Salary Increases)

FY2010 PENDING ISSUES • Modifications to Terms and Conditions of Employment - Books, Dues & Travel; • Workload in Clinical Departments; • Pension Cap Legislation; • Partial Year Extramural Incentive Award; • Float Holidays for Part-Time Faculty; • Faculty Reinvestment (Early Retirement) Plan.

  13. NEGOTIATIONS • STRATEGIC DECISION TO EXTEND CONTRACT THROUGH JUNE 30, 2011. • ESTABLISHING PRIORITIES - FOCUS • SURVEY FACULTY & LIBRARIANS • DRAFTING PROPOSALS • NEGOTIATIONS WILL BE LONG AND HARD
