  1. Irregular Words • What is an irregular word? • Contains _____________________________ the student does not know • Two kinds of irregular words: • ____________________: a word that is considered irregular at an early point in a reading program is not irregular at a later point • Once students learn all letter-sound correspondences (e.g., /ee/) in a word, the word in no longer irregular (e.g., meet) • _____________: some words will always be considered irregular (e.g., you, said)
