  1. Lark Light strategy By: Christian

  2. Summarizing • Summarizing is a great reading strategy! Why? Because if I forgot about my book I can look back and I can read it and it can come right back into my mind.

  3. A Summary from Larklight • Art and Myrtle got venom injected into them that paralyzes you. This happened because humans are food for the larva. But then Jack and his crew save them and kill the Moth. Art and Myrtle aboard Jacks ship the Sophronia! Then they get attacked by the Blue Coat Navy! • 1-21-10

  4. Questions • Questions- is another strategy you can use when you do not understand something happening in the book. • Here are a few questions that I made • How can Mr. Webster talk? • Why do the spiders want Larklight? • How many Spiders are there?

  5. Prediction • Predicting means you use clues from the story to make an educated guess as to what may or may not happen next! • Here’s an example: Say Jack has been captured by the spiders. I predict Art will get the crew to save Jack. • I think they’ll find him by using the tentacle twins to sniff out his thoughts!

  6. Evaluation • Evaluating means your judging the book and the author. • Here’s one of my evaluations: I give this book a 4 out of 5. Right now they’re on Farpoo and there isn’t a lot of action. Although it is an addicting book I’m excited to read Starcross if I can. Nice job Philip Reeve!!

  7. Connection • Connections are when you connect one of the events from the story in the book to something that has happened to you in real life. • Example: When they went to Farpoo that’s a shopping place and I’ve been shopping many times before. I could relate to that!

  8. Inference • Inference- is when you use clues from the book to see how the character feels. • Like if somebody was marooned in a desert you could inference that he is Hungary.

  9. Visualization • Visualization-is when you have a picture in your head about a part of the book your reading.

  10. Phonics • Phonics- is when you sound out a hard word so for example: Lark Light it would be Lark-lig-ht.

  11. The End! • I hope you liked my PowerPoint on all my strategies of reading! Have a good day and I’ll see you soon! Bye!
