Possible Thesis From the mid-1700s, to the post Civil War era, the Five tribes changed dramatically in their political structure and economics but remained relatively consistent in their religion. Politically they became more like the United States, economically the tribes became more commercial; and although some tribe members converted to Christianity, most kept traditional religious beliefs.
