  4. Sample Response: The Inner Canyon has a desert climate. For instance, it receives less than 16 inches of precipitation on average. The temperature at the bottom of the Inner Canyon exceeds the temperature at the top by 35º F. In addition, the vegetation found in the Inner Canyon is similar to that found in the deserts of the southwestern United States. All of these traits distinguish the Inner Canyon as having a desert climate.
