Join the Iredell-Statesville Schools Honor Band 2012-2013: Audition and Celebrate Music!

The Iredell-Statesville Schools Honor Band offers an exciting opportunity for young musicians in grades 6-12 to enhance their musical education and performance skills. Participants will experience being part of an elite ensemble while improving their resumes and applications. Auditions will be held on December 14th at EIMS, with the Honor Band Clinic scheduled for January 31st and February 1st at SHS. A nominal fee covers registration and includes a T-shirt.   1. IREDELL-STATESVILLE SCHOOLS HONOR BAND 2012-2013

  2. PURPOSE • To promote and celebrate young musicians. • To broaden the music education of Iredell County middle school students and to provide opportunities for more advanced training in instrumental music through performance.

  3. WHO CAN PARTICIPATE? • Any young musician enrolled in a band class in the I-SS School District. • Middle School Level: 6-8 grade • High School Level: 9-12

  4. BENEFITS • You get to experience being in an ensemble that’s the best of the best. • Your participation and dedication looks great on applications and resumes.

  5. AM I AVAILABLE? AUDITION REQUIREMENTS • Bb – Eb – Ab – F • Chromatic • Prepared Solo w/cuts • Sight Reading AUDITIONS: SATURDAY, DECEMBER 14th– 9:00 AM @ EIMS HONOR BAND CLINIC: JANUARY 31st& Feb. 1st@ SHS. All Day Friday Rehearsal Saturday half day rehearsal 2:00 PM performance

AUDITION DAY • Receive Audition Sticker at Registration table • Warm up until your number is called in a room filled with just your instrument. • Blind Audition: No talking – just show off your “Mad Musician Skillz” • After audition you are welcome to leave – grab a milkshake on your way home and go back to your typical Saturday ritual of sleeping in. 

  7. WHAT IF I MAKE IT??? • CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!! • You get your concert music in advance - 2 weeks prior to Jan 31st. • Rehearsal with guest clinician: Friday 9-5 (with a long lunch in between for fun) Saturday 9-12 • Performance time 2:00 PM @ SHS

  8. DOES IT COST? AUDITION FEE HONOR BAND CLINIC $15 Clinic Fee - if you bring your own lunch. $25 Clinic Fee – if you’d like 2 Meals included. Both Fees include a T-shirt for the event! • $5 per student • Deadline for registration is Tuesday before Turkey Day. (Nov. 26, 2012)
