Required Documentation Prior to Participation • Charter school in non-public sites: • Certificate of Occupancy • No outstanding violations • C of O must reference ‘school’ • Current fire inspection • No outstanding violations • Charter school in all sites: • New School Food Authority (SFA) Application and Program Agreements or New Recipient Agency (RA) Application
School Breakfast Program (SBP) • NYS mandate in elementary schools and severe need middle and high schools • Regents chartered schools must meet NYS mandate • Breakfast exemption for waiver of mandates • Annual Breakfast Exemption
School Breakfast Program (SBP) • 600,000 breakfasts served each day in NYS • 82% served to free and reduced price eligible students • Reauthorization mandate to promote SBP • Think Breakfast! School Promotion • Free materials for 300,000 students, 10,000 teachers : www.thinkbreakfast.net
National School Lunch Program (NSLP) • 1.7 million lunches served each day in NYS • 66% served to free and reduced price eligible students • Reauthorization Proposed Rule • First significant changes to meal pattern in 40 years

Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) • 300,000 meals served per day in NYS • SFSP or 12 month SBP/NSLP or Both? • Reauthorization mandate to actively promote SFSP sites in your community
Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) • 11-12 school year - 4th Year • All grants awarded • Elementary schools only • Requires service of additional fresh fruits/vegetables outside of requirements for breakfast and lunch • Must provide FFVP to all enrolled students • Sites chosen based on F & R eligibility from 100% down – list run by CN

Food Service Management Company (FSMC) • FSMC provides management in whole or in part • CN prototype contracts and contract process/timeline must be used • Management Company Prototype Contracts • Pre-bid CN approval required if amending prototype language • You are responsible for FSMC oversight, fiscal and nutritional integrity of CN programs
