The MAR MENOR (“Little Sea”) The MAR MENOR is a salad water sea, separed from the Mediterranean Sea by a narrow sand arm (called La Manga del MarMenor) and communicated with it in different places by a navigable channel. MAR MENOR Dimensions: 21 Km long, 11 Km wide 60 Km of coastAverage depth: 5 m Maximum depth: 7m

  5. But...is there any wind overthere? During June the winds are clean sea winds, thermal, growing up during the day. Statistics during June (>20 years average): CAR • Direction: • 60% from N-E (called “levante”) • 20% from S-SW (called “leveche”) • 20% from E (called “jaloque”)

  10. The CAR: how to go there? Highways • By car: highway until CAR gate • By plane: Murcia aeroport (at 10 Km) • Alicante airport (at 50 Km)

Organization: • The regata will be organized by the IACA-Spain, the CN Mar Menor (Los Alcazares) and the CAR with the suporting of: • FVRM (“Federacion de Vela de la Region de Murcia”, Murcia Sailing Federation) and the • RFEV (“Real Federacion Española de Vela”, Spanish Sailing Federation) • ADECAT (“Asociación Española de Catamaranes”, Spanish Catamaran Asociation) IACA SPAIN

  12. Organization: The boats can be parked in a controled area inside the CAR with water services in a asphalt floor. There is a concrete ramp until the sea water. There is also a crane service, and the posibility to rent a neumatic boats

  13. Lodging: The most convenient place is the CAR itself with good and cheap rooms just in the same place of the regatta. Other hotels, tourist apartments and camping areas are available in a very close area around the CAR (a few minutes by walk.)

EXTRA ACTIVITIES: • Local tourism: there is many places of interest in an area of a few Km like Cartagena (old roman city), Murcia, Lorca, Alicante, La Manga, etc • Beach parties and barbeques for all participants and friends during the regatta. • Music bars and discoteques in many places in a close area around the regatta. • Beaches in the same CAR place with quiet and hot water for swimming and bath.
