On repeat @ work: • Broadcast is “go outside and play”; games are the street and the BMXes and the cardboard boxes. • Broadcast is playout. Games are playin.
“In-world broadcasting” • Straight-up delivery of existing material. • Can add realism, where appropriate. • Can extend the reach of an event. • Should be standard in a few years: held back only by streaming costs & online console support.
“Environments” • WoW is an established dramatic environment…so now the movie is in the pipeline. • 3D worlds. • Sandpits. • Galaxies. • Dramas. • “step inside…”
Visible on the horizon: • More brand extension, lots more* • End-games / end-dates? • Episodic gaming: in sync with TV? • Gestural, physical: Wii, etc • Lots more MMOGs (E3 announced 30) • *thanks, Hollywood
Blowing my mind right now: • Google Earth meets MMOG (MMoogle?) • = • The earth as a virtual environment. • Gossip in Silicon Valley says it’s going that way; Google keep hinting.
