  1. Plot • Plot is the sequence of events that make up a story. Every plot is made up of a series of incidents that are related to one another.

  3. Exposition • This usually occurs at the beginning of a story. • It’s the part that introduces the characters, setting, and basic situation.

  4. Initiating Event • The event introduces the central conflict. • It is the first turning point for the protagonist. • It sets the story in motion.

  5. Rising Action • This is the bulk of the story and the biggest section of the plot structure. • It includes all of the events that build suspense and lead to the climax.

  6. Climax • This part is the highest point of interest in the story. • It is the most exciting because the conflict is resolved here.

  7. Falling Action • All loose ends of the plot are tied up. • The remaining conflicts are resolved.

  8. Resolution • This part consists of the final events that end a work of fiction.
