  1. Semantic Web for the Military User C4 Summary of Actions From June 6/7 Meeting

  2. C4 Apps Actions (1) Action: AMC Diplomatic Clearance Application Assigned: BBN/John Flynn Due: 12-Sep Status: Knowldege acquisition meeting sponsored by Rome Lab was held at the Air Mobility Command on 28 – 30 August. The observations are being compiled. Next step was to scope a practical demonstration. This demo will be shown today.

  3. C4 Apps Actions (2) Action: Explore DAML use as part JBI info object representation Assigned: AFRL Rick Metzger Due: 1-Oct Status:

  4. C4 Apps Actions (3) Action: Identify sensors for DAML representation in FY 02 EEE testing Assigned: SSC Frank White Due: 1-Aug Status: Initial cut: DADS, MASINT UGS, and Global Hawk package are being assessed for FY 02 EEE DAML representation

  5. C4 Apps Actions (4) Action: Assess DAML in modeling infrastructure and system control level/ties to other programs Assigned: SSC Frank White Due: 1-Aug Status: Drafting a thought paper for read-ahead re the issues of phenomenology description, geo registration, measurement issues (e.g., temporal, errror, and uncertainty description) Key tie to the DARPA programs Dynamic Data Bases and Dynamic Tactical Targeting

  6. DAML in Expeditionary Sensor Grid(ESG) for Data and Information Fusion • ESG - A sensor grid architecture that integrates sensors, networks, decision aids, weapons, warriors and supporting systems into a highly adaptive comprehensive system that operates from the surface to space and from sea to land. • Widely varying heterogeneity, thousands of sensors and sources - coalition, legacy and emerging systems and sensors • Fusion will require many more operators than practical and automation of fusion will depend on software agents • DAML Contribution • Referenced metadata regarding sensor characteristics, performance and reliability (pedigree), and decision-needs context for multiple heterogeneous sensors/sources/systems enabling high level automated (agent-based) fusion. • SSC running FY 02 ESG Enabling Experiments • Assess DAML markup utility for enhancement of fusion • Explore bandwidth overhead and scalability issues.

  10. C4 Apps Actions (5) Action: Contact SRI re data registration, uncertainty estimation, articulation of sensor/network information Assigned: BBN John Flynn/Mike Dean Due: 11-Jul Status: SRI has been contacted and will follow through

  11. C4 Apps Breakout Tasks • Explore Further C4 Applications • Follow up Sensor, Fusion, and Information Management applications of Semantic Web/DAML • Ascertain ties to other areas (Intel/Doctrine-Lessons Learned, others)
