  12. Cycle to work • The 2009 scheme saw an uptake of 12/280 • We regarded this as a poor result and reviewed our promotion of the scheme for 2010 • In 2010 the uptake was 27/280, a doubling of the previous year and the effects are cumulative year on year • This was a result of heavy promotion

  13. Cycle to work • Developing the scheme • In 2011 the scheme saw an additional 22/280 bikes purchased • 2012 added a further 15/280 to the number • Total number of bikes so far 76/280 cumulative total • Total uptake is 27% of all staff taking advantage of the scheme to date over 3 years

  15. Benefits • Benefits to employees • Improved physical health • Improved mental health & well being • Fuel savings • Lower carbon footprint • Saving money • A purpose built cycle shed • Staff believe the company are in interested in their wellbeing • Benefits to Muntons • Reduced levels of sickness • Improved productivity and moral • Reduction in industrial injuries • Fewer vehicles on site • Staff loyalty increased

  16. Are we doing enough? Cycle to work is a good start. We can develop it further but it has natural limitations most notably distance from work for our staff. We are looking to develop flexible working systems to assist staff with transport issues. Further developments will need the assistance of local and central government for example improved public transport, pavements and lighting. Improve Internet connectivity to rural areas, thus allowing more staff to work from home.
