What is Webcasting? • Webcasting is a live event • 2 primary types of webcasting: • Unicast – 1 stream per viewer: higher bandwidth usage • Multicast – 1 stream for multiple viewers: Lower bandwidth usage • Most agencies not multicast enabled yet • Need to monitor bandwidth: TESTING • Use of projected webcast to groups of people • Video On Demand (VOD) archived and available 24/7

  4. Basic Webcast • Simple Interface • Basic Customizing of Graphics • Single Camera • Ideal for simple message where interactivity is not required

  10. Preparing for a webcast • Meet with DIS staff to plan the event and determine which type of webcast would best meet your needs and your budget. • Pre-test with your agency to ensure success • Involve your technology people

  11. Making a webcast work • Determining the right media for your audience • Get the word out to your staff and encourage them to participate • Have it re-purposed to DVD, CD, or Video on Demand for internal training sessions and convenience for all employees
