This narrative captures my life story, beginning with my childhood in the small mining town of San Manuel, Arizona. Growing up with my brother Alan, who bravely faces the challenges of Neurofibromatosis, has profoundly shaped my perspective on life. Despite the hardships my family encountered, including my parents' divorce due to raising a special needs child, I've found happiness with my high school sweetheart. I aspire to earn a degree in business and social work to help adults with special needs and the elderly. This is a testament to resilience, love, and hope.

Born in Salt Lake City, Utah July 29,1985 to an 18 year old mother and a 23 year old father that were married just 5 months before my arrival
When I was only 6 months old we moved to Arizona. We lived in a very small mining town called San Manuel. This is where I spent my entire childhood until I was 17. San Manuel may have been small, but it had everything any one could need. A grocery store, gas stations, a car dealership, a healthcare center, 2 elementary schools, a middle school, and a high school all within a 2 square mile radius. That is until the copper mine was sold and then closed down. Most people moved away and it almost became a ghost town. There was only 56 students in my high school senior class. 2 of the schools and the grocery store have closed down.
Birth of Alan When I was 18 months old my brother Alan was born. He is probably the single most influential person and thing in my life.
Alan When Alan was only 5 years old he was diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis, it is a tumor causing cancer. Alan had a brain tumor that was operated on 3 times. At one time he was only given 6 months to live, today he is almost 25 years old
Alan Alan and I have always been best of friends During our make a wish trip to Disneyland
What a great Young Man Alan has the greatest outlook on life even with everything he has been through. He touches the lives of every person that crosses his path, I am one of the luckiest people in the world to have him as a brother. He reminds me everyday to look on the bright side
Happy Marriages • My parents were very happily married for 13 years, but the stress of raising a special needs child put too much of a strain on their marriage and they divorced. • I now am happily married to my high school sweetheart
