Epoxy flooring is a combination of resins and hardeners that react to form a rigid plastic material which is strong, durable, resistant and bonds well to most base layers. Epoxy floor paints are best suited for industrial environments, hospitals and sports facilities. Epoxy floor coatings should ideally have the following qualities of an impermeable surface that lasts a lifetime with minimum upkeep and maintenance. There are few factors that you need to keep in mind while choosing the right epoxy floor coating. Initially evaluate the floor surface that will need use of epoxy floor filler. Make sure that any cracks on the floor surface are first fixed so that the coating is done on an even surface. Secondly you need to evaluate if the floor will be exposed to heavy loads. In this case you need to look at chemical exposure, thermal shocks and abrasions that the floor could be facing. Finally get your contractor to estimate the proper thickness for the coating.
