  1. 5 Tips to Tackle SAT Essay SAT is a kind of entrance exam used by colleges all over the USA. SAT was originally adapted from the army IQ test which was very essential to join the army. SAT is a standardized test that shows if a student is genuinely ready for colleges and universities. SAT examination usually consists of four different segments and an optional essay section. There are many online classes available online which can help us to make preparations for SAT examination. While preparing for SAT we should keep some prime points in our mind. Some important SAT essay tips are given below: ➢Starting with a proper blueprint: After reading the passage scrupulously, the student needs to develop a rough outline in his/her mind. Mapping out the different portions is very important. A strong outline helps in structuring and connecting the essay. There should be a clear-cut connection between the different segments of the essay. Students can also take help from the SAT essay examples available online. ➢ ➢ The scoring pattern of SAT essay: The important and foremost thing is to understand the scoring points. Make sure you know specifically how the examiner is going to score your paper. For example, a scorer will hardly spend 2 to 3 minutes on scoring your essay. So if scoring is done in that much time, they have to rely on superficial surface-level characteristics to try to figure out what score you deserve. ➢ ➢ Concrete Introduction and Conclusion: An introduction helps the reader to be introduced to the ideas and topics which will be dealt with further in the essay. It should be interesting and attractive to the readers in all ways possible. A poor introduction might disguise the readers. The conclusion should iterate your thesis statement using different wordings from your introduction. The concluding paragraph should communicate to the reader that you are confident to have proven the idea presented in the body of the essay. ➢ ➢ Structuring of the essay : Always use a five-paragraph structure for your essay. Give the scorers what they want. It's the classic way to write an essay. The format is: I. Introduction II. Body 1 III. Body 2 IV. Body 3 V. Conclusion The rubric gives points for essays with a perfect intro and conclusion paragraphs. There are types of techniques one should keep in mind while writing essays. Such

  2. as Appeal to authority, vivid section, figurative language, logical argument, emotional appeal, or appeal to common values. ➢ ➢ Analysis of SAT essay: The essay section contains a prompt. It's a short passage where someone makes an argument. Your job is to read the argument and write an essay in response to the argument. Now it's important to understand that your essay is not supposed to say that you agree with the argument or disagree with the person making the argument. In other words, your opinion does not matter. You are not supposed to agree or disagree with the passage. Instead, you have to analyze how the author of the passage developed his/ her argument. The final score also depends on the writing style of the student. For most students, “Control over language” is an area that takes a long time to develop. A student should not repeat his or her sentences as it makes the essay very much repetitive. Students should choose their words very precisely. A student should not use first- person statements as it makes the essay look informal. While writing the essay the student should show his or her collection of vocabulary.
