  2. Step 1. Task Definition What do I need to know? What kinds of questions will I ask? What am I trying to find out? What is the problem to be solved?

  3. Step 2. Information Seeking Strategies What sources will I use? Primary or secondary? What strategies will I use? Will I do a subject, keyword, or title search? When do I use an index, or a table of contents?

  4. Step 3. Location and Access Where are the sources? How can I find them? What will I use to find the sources? What kind of library will I use—school, public, or a virtual library?

  5. Step 4. Use of Information Do the sources have the information I need? Do I need more or different information? Will I use every source I found? Do I need to fill in the gaps?

  6. Step 5. Synthesis Is my information organized? What form of presentation will I do-oral or written? What can I create – a report, a poster, a timeline, a play, a puppet show, etc? What technology will I use to create my presentation?

  7. Step 6. Evaluation What do I think of my final project, work, or presentation? Is there something about my work I would have changed? What positive attribute can I say about others’ work? What do my teachers think of my work?
