  2. Who? • It is to believe that Francis Hopkinson who made the very first American flag • Betsy Ross, altered the very first flag. Its to know that George Washington, Robert Morris, and her husband's uncle, George Ross went to her for help because they didn’t know how to make a five pointed star.

  4. When? • George Washington, Robert Morris, and her husband's uncle, George Ross went to Betsy Ross, May, 1776 • The first official national flag, also known as the Stars and Stripes, was approved by the Continental Congress on June 14, 1777

  6. Why? • This invention important because it represent all the lives that have been lost • White signifies purity and innocence • Red, hardiness & valor, • Blue, the color of the Chief • (the broad band above the stripes) signifies vigilance, perseverance & justice
