The American Flag

In Mrs. Kirkland’s kindergarten class, students engaged in an interactive lesson about the American flag. They began by recalling prior knowledge through a turn-and-talk discussion, setting the stage for the learning goal: identifying the main topic and key details. After watching a YouTube video and reading “The American Flag,” students collaboratively determined the main topic. Mrs. Kirkland guided them in drawing and noting key details in their notebooks, fostering individual understanding. The students expressed their thoughts creatively, culminating in a rich exploration of this national symbol.
