  1. The Walkthat Pleases God! 1 Thessalonians 4:1-8

  2. The Walk that Pleases God • A fruitful walk (abounds, vs. 1) • A pure walk (abstains from sexual immorality, vs. 3-6) • A holy walk (as determined from God, who has called us, vs. 7-8) • Note: Our priority in our walk is to please God, not man (Galatians 1:10-12)

  3. Galatians 1:10-12 For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ. 11 But I make known to you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. 12 For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ.

  4. We Must walk… … With God (Companionship) 1 John 1:5-7; Ephesians 4:1-3

  5. 1 John 1:5-7 This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

  6. Ephesians 4:1-3 I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, 2 with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, 3 endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. For us to walk “with God”, our walk must be determined by God to be “worthy”

  7. We Must walk… … With God (Companionship) 1 John 1:5-7; Ephesians 4:1-3 … Before God (Inspection) Hebrews 4:12-13; Galatians 6:7-9

  8. Hebrews 4:12-13 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.

  9. Galatians 6:7-9 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. 9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.

  10. We Must walk… … With God (Companionship) 1 John 1:5-7; Ephesians 4:1-3 … Before God (Inspection) Hebrews 4:12-13; Galatians 6:7-9 ... After God (Discipleship) Deuteronomy 13:4; Mark 8:34-37 2 Timothy 4:1-4

  11. Deuteronomy 13:4 You shall walk after the LORD your God and fear Him, and keep His commandments and obey His voice, and you shall serve Him and hold fast to Him.

  12. Mark 8:34-37 When He had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to them, “Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. 35 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel's will save it. 36 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? 37 Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?”

  13. 2 Timothy 4:1-4 I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: 2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. Included in following is doctrinal purity!

  14. Conclusion We must be very careful how we walk, to ensure that we are pleasing to God! Ephesians 5:15-17

  15. Ephesians 5:15-17 See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, 16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
