The Problem Research out of Michigan Department of Community Health – 153,000 adults/50 states • 4 basics to prevent and control diseases • 76% Did not smoke • 40% Maintained a healthy weight • 23% 5 or more fruits and vegetables/day • 22% got at least 30 minutes of moderate activity/5 days/week • 22%? – new patients in my office (2-5%) • Archives of Internal Medicine April 25, 2005
