  1. Walk with me • How can you tell a story through your shoes? • What do shoes tell us about a person?

  2. Steps: 1. Upload photo to BeFunky.com 2. Select the “Text” photo tool. 3. Select a font. We should be able to read your font. Consider the font size and color. 4. Type your poem into the “text” section of the toolbar. Each line can become a new “layer,” which you may edit separately if you want to experiment with alternating the layout of your text. 5. Save to your computer as a JPEG. 6. Remember, once you save your photo you cannot edit it. Double check for spelling and grammatical errors. 7. Open in Adobe Photo Shop Elements (or Preview) and make sure your image size is correct. 8. If changes are made, remember to save again as a JPEG. Save a copy to your “Turn In” Folder. 9. Print in color to the MMS Lab Color Printer.

  3. Most of us wear shoes most days, but have you ever thought about what it would be like to be your shoes for a day? Your shoes would have a whole different perspective on your day.   As you write, really try to write as if you were your shoes...make the words sound like your shoes. Ready?

  4. Personify one of your favorite shoes; to personify, you need to give your shoe human qualities. Consider some of these: • What is your shoe's personality like? Does he/she get along with the other shoe in its pair? With your socks? • What does your shoe dream about at night? What would be the subject of a nightmare for your shoe? • What does your shoe aspire to be? • What are a few of your shoe's pet peeves? • What is your shoe's favorite song, book, movie, or TV show? • What qualifications does your shoe have, if it was applying for a job?

  5. If you’re interested, brainstorming handouts are available for the personifying shoe writing prompt.
