  2. 2011 February • Start of Interim • Outside assessment and counsel from Transformation Ministries and ABC-NWM May-December • Finished addressing assessment issues

  3. 2012 January 29, 2012 • ODC votes for and commissions the Search Committee Late Winter - Spring • Search Committee is trained on the search process (TM and ABC-NW help) June • Search Committee begins the process of looking for candidates starting with TM and ABC-NW

  4. 2012 Late Summer • The need for a wider pool of candidates is needed • Job opening posted on seminary placement departments and other sites Fall • Search Committee agrees that the best candidates fell outside of what the wording of our constitution allowed

  5. 2012 September 30, 2012 • ODC votes to amend the constitution to allow for a wider pool of candidates to be considered

  6. Over the course of the entire search… • Over 140 total candidates were evaluated • Resume reviews, listening to sermons • Completion of an extensive questionnaire for the candidates who warranted further consideration • Telephone and Skype interviews • Reference checks for the top candidates

  7. 2013 January • Search Committee narrows the final outside candidates down to 3 Spring • Search Committee narrows the final outside candidates down to 2 • The final 2 outside candidates are passed over to the Elders for a deeper vetting

  8. 2013 June • The 2 outside candidates visit Bakersfield and meet with the Elders and Search Committee • After these interviews, Josh is passed to the Elders for further vetting

  9. 2013 July • The search is narrowed down to 2 final candidates: Matthias Heusel and Joshua Kirstine • The feeling is that Josh is the leading candidate • Matthias shares the news that he has accepted a position in Seattle

  10. 2013 August 12, 2013 • The Elders unanimously agree on Josh and recommend him back to the Search Committee • The Search Committee unanimously agrees that God has led us to Josh August 25, 2013 • The Search Committee recommends Josh to ODC
