  1. CCE APPROACH FOR Std. IX BY: Mrs. SHARMILA DAS For: SMT. MANIBA CHUNILAL PATEL SANSKAR VIDYA BHAVAN

  2. Scholastic Areas • Academic Session will be divided into two terms. Each Term will have two formative assessments and one summative assessment. • The board will provide SA I & SA II Question Papers & Marking Scheme.

  3. Co-Scholastic Areas • Co-Scholastic Areas: To be assessed on 5 point grade – A, B, C, D, E.

Problem Solving Assessment (PSA) • Question Paper of 90 marks having 60 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ). • No specific syllabus (CBSE-PSA) • designed to assess the following areas: • Quantitative Reasoning - Reasoning in Humanities, Art and Social Sciences • • Qualitative Reasoning - Reasoning in Mathematics and Science • • Language Conventions - Different aspects of written communication (Grammar, vocabulary etc) • Will be conducted in January.

  6. Problem Solving Assessment (PSA) • Have option to improve their PSA Score in Class X. • The best scores will be reflected in the final certificate . • Same PSA grade will be counted towards FA-4 in IX as well as X.

  7. Assessment in Speaking and Listening (ASL) • Listening Assessment: 10 marks How is it conducted? • An audio recording will be played twice; following which students will be required to complete an assessment worksheet  • Speaking Assessment: 10 marks • Testing correct English usage. • Sufficient time given to prepare the topic in advance.

Assessment in Speaking and Listening (ASL) How is it conducted? • Conducted In pairs. • Simple warm up questions by examiner. • Students speak for4-5 minutes on the topics given in advance. • Prompts will be provided by the Examiners. • Both the students will be given a total of 3 minutes to interact. • Questions will be asked on the topic by the Examiner & partner. • Recording of the speaking assessment will be done and the recordings will be sent to CBSE.

  9. Open text based assessment (OTBA) • SA II of 100 marks: (90 + 10 OTBA). • SA II (English) : (70 + 20 ASL + 10 OTBA). • Question type: higher order thinking skills, critical thinking and problem solving. • allowed to carry the case studies/text material during the examination.  • SA II duration :3hr 30 min.

  10. Policy of upgrading of grades in Scholastic Areas • The Assessment is done on 5 point scale

Policy of upgrading of grades in Scholastic Areas • The students’ grades in scholastic areas may be upgraded to the next higher grade in one or two subjects depending upon the range of grade points obtained by him/her in co-scholastic areas/ activities. • Range 53-65 may be upgraded in 2 subjects. • Range 40-52 may be upgraded in 1 subject. • Noupgradation in case of E2 or A1.

  12. Policy of upgrading of grades in Scholastic Areas • Upscaling is done from lowest grade to next higher grade and so on. • (Example : E1 be upgraded to D, D to C2, C2 to C1, C1 to B2, B2 to B1, B1 to A2 and A2 to A1)
