Rurality of KSA • KSA occupies 80% of the Arabian Peninsula • Total area about 2.25 millions square km. • Geographically, Saudi Arabia is divided into four (and if the Rub al-Khali is included, five) major regions. • The Central region, a high country in the heart of KSA • The Western region, lies along the Red Sea coast. • The Southern region, in the southern Red Sea-Yemen border area. • The Eastern region, the sandy and stormy eastern part of Saudi Arabia, the richest of all the regions in petroleum.

  5. Introduction • The KSA is divided into 13 administrative regions • The climate is hot in the summer, cold in the winder with low rainfall.

Introduction • Estimated Population (2010) is “27, 136, 977” • 31.69 % under 15 and only 3% over 65 years old, which influenced the type of healthcare services delivered. • Approx. 69% Saudis, • ½ % males • Approx. 20% of the population lives in rural areas • For more information, please refer to the “Health Statistical Year Book 2010”
