  2. Commemorate (verb) • Recall and show respect for (someone or something) in a ceremony. • Sentence: On Memorial Day, we commemorate those who have died in war.

  3. Censure (verb , noun) • (verb) To Show severe disapproval of (someone or something), typically in a formal statement. • (noun)the act of blaming • Sentence: The teacher censured the student when he found out she cheated.

  4. Equivocal (adj.) • Uncertain or questionable in nature. • Sentence: The doctor would only give us equivocal answers regarding whether or not there's a chance she can recover.

  5. Enmity (noun) • a feeling or condition of hatred; antagonism. • Sentence: Although my friend and I have moved apart, there is no enmity between us.

  6. Despondent (adj.) • In low spirits from loss of hope or courage; feeling sad. • Sentence: The boy felt despondent when he lost the spelling bee against a little girl.

  7. Detached (adj.) • Separate or disconnected • Sentence: When they got home he detached the trailer from the car.

  8. Deride (verb) • To ridicule; to laugh at • Sentence: The girls derided the new student because she didn't have the nice clothes they had.

  9. Lament (verb , noun) • Verb to feel or express sorrow or regret for • Noun an expression of grief or sorrow • Sentence: As a verb: His endless lament over his lost investment got tiresome after a time. • As a noun: Lament was expressed by many at the memorial service for Uncle Max.

  10. Laud (verb) • Praise ; glorification. • Sentence: The students did so well in the English class, I had to laud them for their efforts.

  11. Hedonist (noun) • devotion to pleasure • Sentence: John was known as a hedonist by his active pursuit of every pleasurable experience that life could bring.
