  4. What you really need to know! The precision of a measurement is the exactness to which a measurement is made.

  5. What you really need to know! Significant digits indicate the precision of the measurement.

  6. What you really need to know! If a number contains a decimal point, the number of significant digits is found by counting the digits from left to right, starting with the first nonzero digit and ending with the last digit.

  7. What you really need to know! If a number does not contain a decimal point, the number of significant digits is found by counting the digits from left to right, starting with the first digit and ending with last nonzero digit.

  8. What you really need to know! When adding or subtracting measurements, the sum or difference should have the same precision as the least precise measurement.

  9. What you really need to know! When multiplying or dividing measurements, the product or quotient should have the same number of significant digits as the measurement with the least significant digits.
