  1. Catch Training Pty Ltd www.catch.nsw.edu.au What happens in an RSA course?

  2. In the dynamic, ever-changing world of dining and catering, keeping up-to-date with the latest guidelines is crucial. Recently, hospitality regulatory bodies have issued notices to bars and restaurants for not getting personnel RSA-certified. If you work in the hospitality industry and want to know more about this course, we got your back. This article will discuss everything that you need to know about the RSA certification.

  3. Course outline An RSA course is legally mandated for licensees and staff selling, offering, or serving alcohol on-premises. It further extends to late night and packaged liquor licences. Licensees and staff who are subject to RSA requirements get one month — from the date they first sell liquor on a licensed premise — to complete an approved RSA training course. While we will discuss this in detail later, a quick Google search, like “RSA course near me,” would be enough to get you started.

  4. Course objective The course’s main goal is to address the problem of illegal drinking — and the bars and restaurants facilitating it. While alcohol is enjoyed safely and responsibly by many people, this has pervaded society so that even underage individuals are consuming it. The misuse and abuse of alcohol can have a devastating effect on not just those taking it but also society. Thus, it is an ethical and legal obligation that institutions serving alcohol and other such substances obtain the RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) certificate. It shows that you know the regulations concerning alcohol consumption in Australia.

  5. Course syllabus and highlights In this course, you will learn how to serve alcohol safely and responsibly by segregating intoxicated customers, underage drinkers, and everyone in between. This course will also provide vital guidelines about dealing with customers indulging in drink driving. The course will give an in-depth overview of the regulations regarding alcohol and its consumption. You will learn how to measure standard drinks and legally sell and serve alcohol as well. Moreover, you will also gain insight into various other technicalities, such as Refusing Entry to Minors, Slow Down Service, House Policy, Refusal of Service, etc.

  6. Certification cost The cost of getting certified is relatively affordable — especially considering it would most likely get borne by the employer. Rates vary, though, between $40 and $160 depending on the package chosen and the state it was completed in. In most states except Victoria, the RSA can be undertaken online, and the costs vary here too. Digital certificates, while cheaper, are still verified by the authorities. You can check the prices with a quick search online.

  7. There are various RSA courses available in the market, but it is recommended that you take up the ones that are accredited with the Victorian RSA council. However, there are other options as well — depending upon your funding. You can enroll in either the Victorian RSA program (face to face) or the nationally accredited RSA, which provide Responsible Service of Alcohol (SITHFAB002) courses face to face or online to work in a licensed venue in Victoria. During the quarantine, this extended to include virtual classroom sessions as part of the program. Recognized RSA courses
