Secretary Election Spring 2010 Industrial Advisory Board • The Nominations Are: • -------------------------------------- • -------------------------------------- • --------------------------------------- • Nomination Process: • Any existing IAB members are eligible • Self nominations are acceptable • If you are nominating another member please be sure that they are willing to participate • All nominations will be accepted and presented at the spring IAB meeting • Any Questions you can contact the existing IAB offices.
School of Engineering and Technology • Industrial Advisory Board • IAB Officer Responsibilities and Term Limits • Secretary • It is the responsibility of the secretary to maintain all of the IAB’s records. The records are to include: • Newsletter • Newsletter Supplements • Press Releases • Publicity • Phone lists • E-mail lists • Meeting minutes • Historical information • A copy of all records shall be housed at the Engineering office (CASET 202, on campus at LSSU) with production assistance from the LSSU School of Engineering and Technology secretary and administrative assistant. • If the Chairman is unable to run a meeting, the secretary will officiate the meeting.
IAB Officer Responsibilities and Term Limits • TERM LIMITS • The term of each office shall be two calendar years. • The terms of Chairman and Secretary shall expire on alternated years • No more than 2 consecutive terms allowed. • There is no limit to the number of non-consecutive terms. • Election shall be by a majority of the members present at the spring meeting. • The term shall pass to the successors at the end of the spring meeting. • Communication of all necessary information is the responsibility of the exiting officers. • COMMENTS: • The smooth operation of this small organization will depend on communication. • Forms of correspondence: • Phone • Fax • E-mail • Letters • To facilitate hand-offs, a format should be consented upon for electronic applications (e.g. IBM/DOS).

IAB MACRAO Participation We participated again this year in the 2009 Fall MACRAO events. MACRAO calendar was updated in mid-summer. LSSU Admissions office and the IAB are working very well together. LSSU Admissions counselors continue to be appreciative of our participation and especially the NEW Recruiting/Press Kit.

Thoughts/Sharing MACRAO events are well organized and the students and parents look forward to attending these events to help in deciding career and education choices. MACRAO events were again focusedregionally this year. Our Recruiting/Press Kit is a HUGESUCCESS!
Thoughts/Sharing The Recruiting/Press kits were completed and distributed to the Admissions people in time for the Fall 2009 recruiting season. At MACRAO events, do we see having an additional LSSU table for Engineering and Technology as mission critical, important, or nice to have? If we had a separate table would we also need a separate table cover with LSSU logo and Engineering and Technology?
Thoughts/Sharing What about having the Recruiting/Press kit on line in PDF format via the Engineering and Technology website? What about having the Recruiting/Press kit on a CD to hand out at the MACRAO events? Support in the Chicago area with George Bielis is an example of supporting Admissions and the IAB outside of Michigan.
Thoughts/Sharing LSSU is still a major UNKNOWN in the field of engineering and technology. IAB participation in MACRAO events is a very UNIQUE and POSITIVEINFLUENCE on student choice. Can we INCREASE the number of IAB members who participate in these events for the Fall of 2010?
…in closing We all enjoy supporting these events, it is a rewarding experience to be able to provide information that may be used in a student’s decision making process for their educational and career choices. The Spring 2010 MACRAO events are coming up after the beginning of the new year, I will again post an email soliciting your support.

What’s new in…Mechanical Engineering ? ● After multiple reorganizations, we’re once again… the “Department of Mechanical Engineering” ● New faculty member: Dr.Sai Nudurupati ▫ joins us from NJIT (a nest of Yankees fans) ▫ background in particle coagulation using electromagnetics (e.g., of interest in the production of pharmaceuticals)
