  4. Clothing • They wear very much the same as any other modern western society - ranging from Jeans and Tee shirts to full business suits for office work. • They wear heavy overcoats or anoraks for cold wintry weather to raincoats and umbrellas, for weather rain.

  6. The Royal Family Fact • There has not been a Queen of England since 1603. Elizabeth I was the last ever King or Queen of England. • From 1603, the monarch has been known as either the Monarch Great Britain or of the United Kingdom.

Special Holidays • 1 March, St. David's Day, is the national day of Wales. • 17 March, St. Patrick's Day, is the national day of Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland. • 23 April, St. George's Day, is the national day of England. • 30 November, St. Andrew's Day, is the national day of Scotland.

  9. Dancing • Morris Dancing is a traditional English form of folk dancing. It has been danced for hundreds of years. The dances are usually performed at festivals such as May Day, Whitsun and Christmas.

  10. Flag • It is called the Union Flag because it symbolises the administrative union of the countries of the United Kingdom. It is made up of three other Flags. • From England, Scotland and of Northern Ireland.

My Favourite Moment in British Hisorty • The Spanish sailed towards England to attack. • They were met by a collection of English vessels. • English set fireships adrift. • The two fleets met in battle off Gravelines. The English emerged victorious. • It was then a succession of storms scattered the Spanish ships, resulting in heavy losses. By the time the tattered Armada returned to Spain, it had lost half its ships and three-quarters of its men.
