The Importance of Time: A Poem on Faith and Actions

This poem reflects on the struggle between daily responsibilities and spiritual duties. It begins with a hurried prayer amidst life's demands and emphasizes the often-overlooked importance of sharing faith with others. The speaker's remorse grows as they realize that while they were too busy to communicate Christ's message, they might miss the opportunity for salvation. The poem ends with a poignant reminder that time is limited, urging readers to prioritize their spiritual lives and the act of reaching out to others in need.

  1. Do you love Him?

  2. THE POEM I knelt to pray, but not for long, I had too much to do. I had to hurry and get to work, For bills would soon be due.

  3. So I knelt and said a hurried prayer, And jumped up off my knees. My Christian duty was now done, My soul could rest at ease.

  4. All day long I had no time To spread a word of cheer. No time to speak of Christ to friends, They'd laugh at me, I'd fear.

  5. No time, no time, too much to do, That was my constant cry, No time to give to souls in need, But at last the time, the time to die.

  6. I went before the Lord, I came, I stood with downcast eyes. For in his hands God held a book; It was the book of life.

  7. God looked into his book and said: "Your name I cannot find. I once was going to write it down... But never found the time."

  8. Now do you have the time to pass it on?
