Revised session on Digital Strategy • Apologies from GDS Government Digital Service • Doing excellent work on Central Govt going Digital – GOV.UK • Recently published Government Digital Strategy • Tom Loosemore presented @ last LCIO Council • SOCITM Involvement in Local Public Services Role in this arena
GDS Work & Strategy key messages • Gov.UK saved £50m about 10% of size of previous • GD Strategy is short,14 actions at the heart of it • Not an IT project, about business transformation • Users at the heart of everything - don't design at Workshops, decide areas, involve users and staff • Digital Leaders Board and Advisors Board – not IT • Digital standards to be published shortly –should be helpful to Local Public Services • GDS not looking at Local Public Services yet
GDS Work & Strategy (cont.) • Based on capacity to continually improve rather than targets, continuous improvement and rapid redevelopment rather than large developments • Understand failure demand. Why end up at call centre because of web failure • Key must be iterative, never finished, constantly integrating • GDS state need significant Internal Capacity • Tom 're mobile devices - if service not available for mobile not going live, also do not develop app use web'
