Living Along the river Severn • In todays lesson and the next one you will be working as a team of estate agents trying to find the right “location location location” for a couple with 2 young children who are house hunting. They want to live in the river Severn valley and have up to £250k to spend on a 3 bedroom house. They want you to present back to them after about 20 minutes of next lesson.

Criteria: a)well described settlement using geography key words b)Reference to OS maps c) Be able to ‘sell’ your area to the rest of the class d) Be able to explain how any perceived disadvantages can be overcome Use www.rightmove.co.uk • How to do well: • A clear and easier to understand presentation • Writing all of it in your OWN words • You cover both descriptions and evaluations of different areas • You work well as a team • You use connectives to link together different evaluations • You make good use of the map.

Everyone in your group has a role • Managing Director • Location Manager (someone able to describe the local area) • Map Reference Manager • Sales Manager (showing the area in a positive light) You have 2 lessons: at the end of the second you will present your ideas back to the rest of the class

They now also want to know which area the house you are suggesting is in. they have given you a choice of 4 to choose from: • Urban: CBD • Urban: Inner City • Urban: Suburbs • Rural: Hamlet or other settlement They would like to know what are the advantages of living in this particular type of area

  8. Feed back and Self Assessment • Write down 2 of the positive comments your group received • Write down one more aspect that you think your group could have done better. Again you can refer to the level grid on the earlier slide
