  3. Commonwealth Dual Enrollment Program Definition: Dual Enrollment • High school students enroll in college-level course work and receive high school and college credit • Excludes developmental coursework

Commonwealth Dual Enrollment Program Background: State Funded Dual Enrollment • Established by the Education Reform Act of 1993 (funded between 1994-2001) • Re-established as a pilot program in FY2009 • Stresses accessibility and collaboration • Focus: first-generation college students and STEM • Flexible course delivery and use of funds • System-wide requirements and standards established by committee • Renamed the Commonwealth Dual Enrollment Program (CDEP)

Commonwealth Dual Enrollment Program Moving Forward • FY2010 Budget and Projected Enrollment • Allocation: $750,000 • Projected Enrollment: 2,472 (excludes summer) • FY2010 Plans: Program Development • Research funding sources to fit the Massachusetts context • Strengthen common procedures • Implement a robust data collection system • Evaluate and monitor outcomes • FY2011 Budget Request: $1,000,000 (50% less FY 2009)
