  1. Using your resources (you are in a computer lab by the way) Research the following relationships found in nature: Commensalism Mutualism Predator & Prey Competition Parasitism

  2. R E A D Go to our Web page and open the Open Stax biology reading “Relationships in Nature”.

  3. In your notebook, create a thinking map of the information you have just researched. Mutualism Competition Be sure to include a definition and examples of each type of relationship Predator & Prey Parasitism Commensalism

  4. Log on to http://www.mhhe.com/biosci/genbio/virtual_labs/BL_04/BL_04.html

  5. Read the direction for completing the lab in the text box on the left side of the web page Turn Off The Volume

  6. Get a Copy of the Population Biology Lab Data Sheet

  7. Click on the information tab at the bottom of the web page and use that information to answer the Pre Lab questions on your lab analysis sheet

  8. Collecting Work through the procedures as outlined in the left column of the web page and collect 4 days worth of data. To save time you will be given the data for weeks 6 thru 16

  9. Graph Your Data Use the data you just collected to construct two graphs in the space provided on your lab data sheet. One graph should show the relationship of the paramecium grown alone, while the other represents the relationship of the bacteria grown in the same culture
