  3. Using M2 • Enter the following URL in your web browser window: https://tma-bi.csd.disa.mil • For convenience, you can create a shortcut on your desktop. • Right click on desktop. • Click on ‘New’ and then ‘Shortcut’. • Type in the location of the item: https://tma-bi.csd.disa.mil. • Click on ‘Next’. • Type in a name for the shortcut, something like “BOXI”. • Click ‘Finish’. • Logging on: be cautious with your CAC PIN • 3 Strikes rule for entering your PIN! • Raise your hand for help if you’ve had two warnings!

  4. REMINDER! Business Objects At work or in class. . . Never leave a workstation unlocked When logged into M2!

  5. M2 Data Dictionary • Spreadsheet format • One tab per data file • Describes overall content; timing • List of all data elements • Definition • Valid Values • Format • Example • Notes & Caveats • Updated monthly • Very important for correct reports!

  6. Table of contents Hyperlinked

  7. Header Information Location Update Cycle Record Description Source

  8. Objects listed in same order as in M2 • Definition, Format, List of values

  9. M2 Data Dictionary • Let’s open the M2 DD • Google “BEA M2” • Click the top result • Right-click “M2 Data Dictionary”, select “Save Target As…” and save to your Desktop

  10. Using the DD Effectively • Don’t forget to update the DD each month • http://www.tricare.mil/ocfo/bea/functional_specs.cfm • Review definitions prior to using objects in a query • Be sure to compare values across files • Objects with the same name sometimes have different meanings and value sets

  11. Using M2 • M2 Accounts: 800-600-9332, option 7 (DHSS - M2) mhs_remedy@timpo.osd.mil (gets routed to M2 POC) • DB2 Database • Files are not generally integrated • Business Objects Software • Client-server • GUI-Interface (Structured Query Language) • Analysis Capability • SQL: • You pick the data elements you want to see • And the filters you want to use • SQL summarizes data per your instructions

BOXI - Full BO product suite for M2 reporting BO 5.1.7 – Older version of BO used for M2 InfoView – Portal where WEBI, WEBI RC, DESKI, documents are viewed and shared WEBI – Web based application WEBI RC – Web based application that requires a client installation on workstation DESKI – Full client based application that requires an installation on workstation Definitions 12

  13. Using M2 • Slice and Dice • Wonderful tool in M2 • Allows you to manipulate data without re-running • After your results are returned, use slice and dice to: • Rearrange • Filter • Sort • Remove data elements • Insert calculations • Link M2 files by common elements

  14. M2 “Adds Stuff Up” • Basic Sample Data • If user asks for date and count: FYCount Oct 2007 3 Nov 2007 3

  15. M2 “Adds Stuff Up” • Basic Sample Data • If user asks for date and count where Enrollment Loc is Walter Reed: FYCount Oct 2007 2 Nov 2007 1

  16. Now let’s try a corporate document!

  17. Corporate Documents • Corporate Documents are M2 Reports • Written by “Super Users” • Intended to be used by a wide audience • Very helpful for new users • Prompted filters vs. all MTFs already run

  18. Overview of Infoview Log out Your User Account View/Create Documents Set Preferences 18

  19. Open DESKI… Click New Desktop Intelligence Document

  20. Cancel the Query Panel window that pops up when you first open DESKI

  21. File > Import from Repository

  22. Naming convention Ensure Folders is clicked or you won’t see any reports listed!

  23. Select the report you want and click Retrieve. To get the latest refresh of the report, click Retrieve Instance. If ‘Retrieve Instance’ is greyed out, that means there aren’t multiple instances

  24. If you don’t see any reports listed or if the window is acting “quirky” - notice the Data Quality reports no longer listed! - then your Infoview session has timed out (20min of inactivity) a) Close DESKI Click Refresh button, causing you to re-login to Infoview Re-open DESKI

  25. Multiple tabs

  26. Slice and Dice (toolbar button) 2 panels

  27. Ambulatory Reporting Compliance, Appt Benchmark Then Slice and Dice to show only MEPRS3 Code BAT

  28. Case Management All are required for the record to show in M2 as CM • Primary Proc = G% • MEPRS4 Code ‘FAZ2’, ‘ELAN’ or ‘ELA2’ • Dx1 = V49.89 • Dx1-DoD Extender=2,3,4

  29. Corporate documents • We used Slice and Dice to further analyze, rearrange, etc… What Next? • Can hit save • Saves the “.rep” file; keeps your changes, can be re-run later • Can hit “edit / copy all” to put on clipboard • Can easily paste into spreadsheet software • WYSIWYG; keeps your changes • Can use “export” button (blue Rubik’s Cube toolbar button) to • Export entire raw data cube that does not contain your changes made in Slice and Dice -- text formatting, increase or decrease decimal, etc… Edit / Copy All, Paste in Excel

  35. CAPER – Summary and Detail files in M2 • How many encounters and RVUs at your: • MTF? • Parent MTF? • Region? • Multi-Service Market Area? • Etc…. • Identify needed data elements using data dictionary • My MTF (“Tmt DMIS ID”), FY, Provider Aggregate RVUs, Provider Aggregate Total RVUs, Encounters, only MEPRS1 = B • In CAPER Detail file: Change Edit Flag • Remember some edits are being applied to CAPERs prior to assigning RVUs • To understand when code edits have been applied and why

  41. M2 will only retrieve the objects you ask it to retrieve

  42. Use conditions panel to limit data • From entire world, to area of interest • If I hit run now with no conditions………

  43. I would get the whole MHS and all the years that are in M2! not what I want • Use conditions panel to limit data • From entire world, to area of interest • If I hit run now with no conditions………

  44. List of operators • Click the one you want

  45. After clicking “equal to”, a set of options are displayed

  46. Select from the list of values

  47. Add additional filters • Hit Run

  48. We always double-check our results • Check to ensure it reflects the filters you applied • FY = ??? • Tmt Parent DMIS ID = ?? • MEPRS1 Code = B • Do the numbers look reasonable? If not, maybe your query needs to be modified

  49. To modify your query • - The query panel is the only place you can modify what is pulled from the database • Hit button that looks like a golden keg to modify the query
