Eritrean-Ethiopian War • The Eritrean-Ethiopian War lasted for 30 years (1961-1991) • Mengitsu Mariam was a high ranked officer which lead the Mengitsu government into a more militaristic state. • Mengitsu government killed thousands of people in attempt of genocide • The Oromos were taken over by the Derg and Amharas "Ethiopian Civil War."   4. Conclusion 1 • We think that the war is related to the story because Mawi’s family needed to come to America due to the affects this war had on them.
