  3. Prefix • Is added to the beginning of a word

  4. Root • A root word is a word you can change into a new word by adding a beginning and/or an ending. • It is the most basic form of a word that is able to convey a particular description, thought or meaning.

  5. Suffix • Is an ending that is added to a root word

  7. Why Are We Learning This? • Big words are made up of many smaller words and by understanding affixes, you can figure out the meaning of many bigger words. • It also helps with your spelling!
